SUPERSPORT SERIES(SSS)(Based on 1999-2000 Format)

The 11 Provincial teams are seeded on the outcome of the SSS log over the past three seasons. North West and Easterns not having participated in the SSS competition are seeded 10 and 11 respectively based on the outcome of the UCBSA Bowl competition over the past three seasons. At the conclusion of the season thereafter, the seedings procedure will apply but will be based on the seeding of the previous season only.

Based on the 3 seasons, the teams are placed into two separate pools A and B as depicted below.
Preliminary Round

Each team plays one match against each of the other teams within their respective Pool.

Pool A

Each team plays five matches giving a total of 15 matches. At the conclusion of the Pool matches, the top four teams progress through to the Super Eight Series (SES). The teams finishing fifth and sixth are placed in the Shield Series.

Pool B

Each team plays four matches giving a total of 10 matches. At the conclusion of the Pool matches, the top four teams progress through to the SES. The team finishing fifth is placed in the Shield Series.

Point accumulated in the Preliminary round against teams progressing to the SES are carried forward. Average points only are carried over to the Shield Series.

Super Eight Series

Each team plays four cross pool matches giving a total of 16 matches. At the conclusion of the SES the two teams emerging with the most points compete in the SSS Final which will be of five days duration.

Shield Series

Each team plays one match against the other 2 teams giving a total of three matches.

The Shield and a financial incentive will be awarded to the team finishing first.

Progression to Super Eight Series

In the event of two or more teams finishing on an equal number of points in their respective Pools, the Pool position in the log will be decided as follows:

The team/s with the greater number of wins,
If still equal, the team which won the match against each other,
If still equal, the team which achieved the greater number of points against each other,
If still equal, the team which achieved the higher run rate against each other.
